Every page here, the studio included, should work with a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone held in one hand and text set twice as large. This page says how we check that, where it still falls short, and how to tell us.

In your browser: the sound is decoded and measured, and never leaves your device. On our server, only at checkout: its 2,000 peaks, its length and your words, to draw the print.
What standard do you aim for?
WCAG 2.2, level AA.
Before each release every page is checked automatically for text contrast, a name on every control, landmarks and heading order, and again at three phone and tablet widths for touch targets and sideways scrolling. Automated checks don't catch everything a person meets, which is why the last section of this page exists.
Can I make a print without seeing it?
Yes. The waveform is described in words.
The proof and the hung print each carry a description that changes with your choices: the form, the length of the sound, the ink and the ground, and the title. The method under the studio says in words what the drawing measures.
Can I bring a sound with a keyboard or a screen reader?
Yes.
Bring a Sound opens your device's own file picker, and Record Ten Seconds is a button. Each step of reading the sound is announced as it happens, with the time it has taken, and so is anything that goes wrong, with what to do next.
Can I order a print with a keyboard or a screen reader?
Yes, from the first choice to the payment page.
Every choice in the studio is a labelled button, swatch or field you can reach with the Tab key, and each colour swatch has its name. Payment happens on Stripe's own checkout page, which Stripe builds and maintains.
Does anything move?
Only the meters, and only while they measure.
Nothing moves on its own. What changes is information: the recording level, the seconds left, and where playback has reached. With reduced motion switched on in your device's settings, those still update, because they are the readout, and nothing else animates.
Where does it still fall short?
- The waveform's shape, where it is loud and where it is quiet, has no description beyond its length.
- A file you download is an image, so a screen reader can't read the words printed on it.
- Hear It Back plays the sound through your device; it has no captions, because the page can't know what was said.
How do I tell you something doesn't work?
Write to support@painted.app.
Say which page and what happened, and what you were using if you know it: the browser, a screen reader, a magnifier. If any part of ordering gets in your way, write to us and we'll set up the order with you by email. Post reaches us at PaintedApp, LLC, 1327 SE Tacoma St #394, Portland, OR 97202, United States.
